The Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon

The Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon

On a scale of 1-30, I give this Marathon a 30

1-Poor
2-Average
3-Good

1) Location- Cincinnati, Ohio

The route was amazing. I remember crossing a bridge and reading a sign which said, "Welcome to Kentucky". I literally ran in (2) States that day. The scenery was beautiful and picturesque. If I had not been on a mission of setting a new personal best, I would have stopped to appreciate the beauty.
Score: 3

2) Start

The start line was very organized. The corrals were well marked. It was very easy to determine where to be at the start of the Marathon by the markers. Starting was very easy and the runners proceeded problem free.

Score: 3

3) Route

The route was mostly flat with very few hills. The hills were nothing like the ones I train on in Griffith Park in California. So, I was not one of the participants complaining about the hills. I handled them as small challenge.

Score: 3

4) Mile Markers

The mile markers were very visible and accurate

Score: 3

5) Water Stops

The water stops were well stocked and the volunteers were on point. They really took care of all the thirsty participants.

Score: 3

6) Finish Line

The reception at the finish line was tremendous. One "Flying Pig" handed me a face towel as soon as I crossed the finish line. Another one removed the chip. Then another placed the medal around my neck. The way they took care of me made me feel very important.

Score: 3

7) Volunteers

They were really attentive and were they to help you in every way possible. They treated this task as a very important job. They made me feel very special.

Score: 3

8) Spectators

The crowd was great. All the excitement they generated inspired me to continue no matter what. They really came out to support this event. I'm glad they did, since I flew all the way from Burbank, California to participate. They did not disappoint me at all.

Score: 3

9) Refreshments

Refreshments were in abundance. There was plenty of food and fuel for all the participants. The volunteers who handed them to us were also very attentive and there to help us with the recovery.

Score: 3

10) Medal

The medal is one of kind. The "Flying Pig" has a front and back. I can truly say that this is my favorite medal.

Score: 3

I highly recommend this marathon. The energy coming from the entire city was great! The costumes were so "cute". The scenery was beautiful. You'll be able to run in (2) states in one day. The reception at the finish line was "royal". If you want to feel the energy, The Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon is for you!
